The 1984 and 1985 Executives were identical. However, no sedans were made after 1984. The only way to tell them apart was by the serial number. Changes from the 1983 were as follows:
A digital dash replaced the 1983 analog dash.
The 1983 dash was blue or gray with a wood grained glove box door. 1984 and later reversed this combination and used wood grain for the instrument surround panels and blue or gray for the rest of the dash.
Taillights for the 1984-85 wrapped around the rear fender cap. 1983 taillights were flat and fender caps were solid.
Courtesy lights at the bottom of the rear doors contained a three-light cluster composed of a white front, red rear and white center light using a diffused lens which stayed on with the running lights. Front doors had a white light. These lights were lit by either opening the doors or turning the headlight switch to interior lighting position.
Additional interior lighting was provided in the limousines by a center dome light for the driver's compartment and a "glamour module" just above the division window and twin reading lights on either side of the rear seat in the sail panels. The glamour module had round lights at each end which had the "theatre dimming" feature and went slowly out after closing the doors. Along the bottom were two rectangular lights and could be switch operated independently.
Sedan models had a slightly different lighting setup. In place of the front center dome light, there were individually controlled map lights between the sun visors. Rear entry was illuminated by the same round lights used at the end of the glamour module in the limos and mounted in the roof just behind the front seats. These also had the "theatre dimming" feature. As in the limousines, rear reading lights were position in the rear sail panels.
In addition, ash receiver, glove box, underhood and trunk lights were included. To complete the picture, side cornering lights were activated by the turn signal switch through the ignition. Headlights did not need to be on.
A fluorescent exterior coach light in the limousine's vertical "tiara" where the padded roof begins comprises a running light with the parking/headlight circuit.
Limousines had a master control panel in the right rear door which contained switches to control both rear windows, window lockouts, door locks, division window and in some cars, a rear air distribution switch. The driver's door contained switches for the dual remote mirrors, front windows and door locks but did not control the rear windows.
Sedans, since they had no division window or jump seats, utilized the driver's door panel for the master window controls and door locks. Rear doors had controls for individual windows. Although both the limousines and sedans had reclining seats, the sedans could recline fully. The limousines had only limited recline adjustment due to the bulkhead housing the jump seats and stereo/glovebox console.
Even though comparatively few of these cars were made, it seems no two are exactly alike, There is at least one 1985 with the 2.2 turbo engine, even though that engine was not available until 1986 according to Chrysler records. Several have wide silver body moldings the same size as the bumper rub strip that continue all around the car. Most others have narrow moldings. A few have no side moldings at all.
